Grandbaby Number FOUR is BORN!

He's here, and oh what a cutie! Kylee & Conner got their little one on Saturday, March 28th. Kaydee and I were able to be in Logan with them. Seeing babies born is such an awesome experience, and it's a whole new thing when it comes to seeing your children have babies and become parents. It's quite emotional!

Kylee did so good. Things just progressed at a very nice pace and went really well. She was admitted to the hospital at about 9:30 Friday night and had him at 6:13 the next morning. It was a long night simply because we didn't really sleep. We watched the monitor, resituated Kylee when she became uncomfortable and tuned into Animal Planet all night. Kaydee and I finally dozed off to sleep and then the nurse came into say that she was ready to start pushing. At that point no one seemed to care about sleeping any more. We were all excited to welcome this little one into the world.

Nixon Conner Edwards was born about an hour later. He weighed 7lbs. 4oz. and is 20 1/2" long. He's darling!

A Day/or Two Out

We didn't have school last Friday and I was in the mood to shop. I called my mom that morning and asked her if she'd like to come along. I caught her just in time, because Melinda called right after with another option, babysitting.

We had such a fun day. We just took our time looking, dreaming and even did a lot of buying. I had made a list of all the things we have needed around the house that I never seem to remember to buy. Things like new phones, rugs, hoses for outside, table cloth, etc. Wow, it adds up fast! Besides all of that I had a few other things on my list too. I had seen a couple things from Ikea that I've been wanting to get to help me organize my little sewing area. I got a pretty nifty cart thing with sliding metal basket drawers plus this nifty little drawer organizer that I had been wanting to embellish. I have to say I think it turned out pretty darn cute. I bought one to do for Kylee too. I thought she could put it on the baby's dresser to put the "little things" in. Now I want to go back and get a few more just for fun and because there is some dang cute paper around!
Back to our day out, while we were in Ikea I got a text from Kylee inviting anyone and everyone to a cleaning party at their place the next day. George called and suggested that my mom and I just head up to Logan from there. At first I said, "No, I need to go home and get clothes, make-up etc." but then mom and I discussed it and decided, what the heck! We took off for Logan at about 8:00pm.
We got us a hotel room and went and picked up Kylee to go to Walmart for cleaning supplies, pj's/cleaning uniforms and toiletries. Luckily a lot of that was already on my list. The next morning we hit the Distribution Center early for new underwear.
Kylee and Conner had to clean the church so while they were there cleaning we hit the apartment. Kylee had discovered mold in a corner of the living room and in the closet the week before and has been really stressed out ever since, hence the reason for the special cleaning party. Their apartment is quite old and apparently not well ventilated. We wiped everything down with a bleach solution and hopefully got it under control at least for the month they have left to live there.
If nothing else, I think Kylee is feeling better about it and about bringing a baby home now. It was a day out that turned into two!

Gifts to Inspire Creativity

Well it's a fact that I'm getting old! I tried to deny it, but my birthday came and went last week adding another wrinkle. Along with the wrinkle(s) it also brought a lot of well wishes and some pretty nice gifts, plus a fantastic piece of poetry from my dear sisters! Despite the fact that another year was added, it was a great day!

George even got up early to decorate. ( I wish I would have taken a picture of his work) When I got back from my run in the morning he had carefully placed handcrafted birthday greeting on the back door. I think I hurt his feelings by not noticing it though. But, my argument was that it was kind of camoflauged because it was white paper on a white door and scripted in a fine point pen. I left it hanging for a few days so that he'd know that I was truly touched.

My family all called to wish me a happy birthday, my sisters emailed, the kids at school sang and decorated the board with well wishes. Karson and Linzy made me dinner that night, their delicious Maui Influenced Banana Pancakes. Speaking of food Kaydee & Launey and the kids took us out for dinner the night before at Red Lobster (Luke's pick), it was YUMMY! Marge, George, and my friends all spoiled me with some great gifts. I spoiled myself too, in Vegas the weekend before.

I took a couple of pictures to the "gifts given to inspire creativity". My mom gave me a GOOD pair of sewing scizzors. I am going to guard them with my life! SueAnn gave me a really neat photo box with albums, quilting pins, binding clips, and a gift certificate to Gracie Lou's. Marge and George gave me money to help me afford the things I'll be cutting and pinning.
So all in all the wrinkles are well worth all that comes with them. It was a great day because of the great people in my life!

Viva Las Vegas!

When am I ever going to stay home? I feel like I've been such a renagade lately, and it's sure been fun!

Last weekend we went to Vegas. For the past couple of years we have ended up going down to watch the MWC Basketball Tournament. It works out nice because George is usually in St. George for the Nicholas & Co. Food Show so we just extend the weekend and make the most of the great weather this time of year. Since we were down there we were able to go to see Keisha and Paul married in the St. George Temple Friday morning. That was also an added bonus! Congratulations to them!

This year was especially fun because Conner was playing in a flag football tournament with a bunch of his cousins. They had earned a spot in the tournament from winning a big one in Mesquite over Thanksgiving. They played against some pretty big teams and ended up losing (their one and only loss) to a team in the last seven seconds, which kept them out of the championship.

.

We watched BYU and Utah play basketball, Karson and the Jones boys bowl, us girls shop, Conner play football and everyone EAT.

Ok here goes my first official entry with photos (hopefully). This past weekend we had Kylee's baby shower. It was held at Linzy & Karson's house, which was so fun for everyone to see. They have worked hard and have really made it such a cute HOME. Kaydee designed the invitations. She does such a good job with things like that. She's really got some talent!

We experimented with some cute "cupcake pops" that I ran into on bakerella. http://www.bakerella.blogspot.com/. We had trouble finding a mold or cookie cutter for the bottom part but we made due with what we had and I must say they turned out pretty cute!

C is Me! is Born

Well here I am, a grandma with a blog! What fun, what fun. I've had so much fun browsing through pages and pages of the blogs of so many creative people. I'm hoping that if I start my own blog I can get fired up to mimic some of their creative ideas too.

I've got a huge list of "favorites" bookmarked on my computer of quilting bloggers. I love checking them often to see all the new projects everyone is working on. I'm dreaming of becoming one of them. I've just got to channel my spare time in the right direction and instead of checking out everyone elses work, I've got to get some of my own done.

Besides using my blog to stimulate my creative juices, I'm excited about using it as a bragging blog as well. I've got three adorable grandkids and we are expecting another little boy in three short weeks. This one will be a whole new make and model so we are extremely excited to see what Kylee and Conner will produce.

This should be fun, even for a grandma!
